Welcome to the Hybrid explorer scouts website.

We are the explorer scout unit for Aldershot, Ash and Ash Vale. Although we are in the Blackwater Valley District, we also welcome new explorer scouts from Surrey.

Explorers - 14 to 18 years.  Try more. See more. Do more. At Explorers, you’ll stand on your own two feet, and make memories to last a lifetime.

About Us

Hybrid Explorer Scouts were founded in 2002 and are one of the three original Explorer Scout Units in the Blackwater Valley District. We predominantly take scouts from the Aldershot, Ash and Ash Vale areas to join our Explorer Scout group, however if you are from outside this area, you are still very welcome to join us.

Unlike scouts, we are outside 9/10 nights of each term regardless of weather and are a lot more independent. The explorers run their own nights with the three leaders- Steve and Aidan overseeing rather than leading.

We have a more relaxed view on uniform and discipline to scouts preferring to wear activity appropriate clothing rather than formal scout shirts. For this reason we sell Hybrid Hoodies as uniform. We treat our Explorer Scouts like young adults, and expect them to take on responsibility and teach skills to each other rather than rely on leaders to do everything for them. This includes camping, when Explorers are expected to provide their own sleeping and eating arrangements, plan their own hikes and activities.

If you are a Scout in Aldershot, Ash or Ash Vale looking for your next step in scouting why not come and give us a try?  Get in touch below to find out when our next suitable meeting is, then come along for a few weeks to see if Hybrid Explorers is for you.
